Siliconized Silicon Carbide (SiSiC)
Siliconized Silicon Carbide is reaction-bonded, silicon infiltrated silicon carbide (SiSiC) materials. The composition of the green body includes some carbon and the high temperature firing occurs in the presence of an excess of Si. As the molten Si diffuses through the body, it reacts with carbon to form a beta SiC bond and the remaining open porosity is filled with the excess silicon. According to the shape of the item to be delivered, the green body may be formed either by extrusion or by slip casting。
